Year 1 modules and matters

SSA/B xxxx	Singapore Studies (SS) -University Requirements	Lecture & Tutorials	Recommended to complete this in Year 1. choose to read one from a basket of SS modules available

Tutorial Groupings	Please follow the tutorial arrangements allocated to your tutorial group. Students who do not have a grouping have to email Dean’s Office: engbox28@nus.edu.sg
Maximum workload Year 1 Semester 1 & 2 : 20 MCs (in each semester) Year 2 onwards : 25 MCs each semester All Year 1 students are not encouraged to exceed workload. Exceptions are given to DDP/LLP/CSP students. Students on normal track should not bid for more than 2 ULRs (8 MCs) since you’ll be preallocated with 3 essential modules (12MCs). If you have not been preallocated an essential module, you have to ensure that you reserve enough MCs (4MCs for each essential) for the preallocation to take place successfully in CORS.	Appeals to increase workload should include reasons and list of all modules and MCs: chbeug@nus.edu.sg
Announcements to students (by Office of Undergraduate Programmes, Dean’s Office)
Bidding for University Level Requirements (ULR) Appeals for a certain GEM/Breadth/SS modules	ULRs include : GEMs, Breadth, SS ‘Breadth’ = Modules outside the Faculty Dept recommends you read 1 SS and 1 GEM module in this semester. However you need not follow this order if you prefer.
SARTOR requirements SARTOR requirements will not be required for Chemical Engineering students of AY2007/08 cohort. Thus 07/08 cohort Chemical Engineering students are free to choose to any Breadth modules to read instead of reading the 2 SARTOR modules to count towards Breadth.
