Dr Magdiel Inggrid Setyawati wins two Best Poster Awards at the 8th ICMAT 2015
Dr Magdiel Inggrid Setyawati and Asst Prof David Leong ’s dual entries to two different symposia within the 8th ICMAT 2015 conference “Theranostic DNA Pyramid Nanostructure for Combination of Detection and Treatment of Bacterial Infection” and "Mechanistic Investigation of Food-Borne Nanoparticles’ Biological Effects on Human Intestinal Cells" won the Best Poster in the categories ""Synthesis and Architecture of Nanomaterials" and “Advanced Nano and Polymeric Materials for Biological and Health Care Applications" respectively. She, together with Asst Prof David Leong synthesized nano-sized pyramids out of DNA and used them as anti-microbial delivery agents as reported in the former poster. The latter poster described recently published in-depth studies on pro-inflammatory effects of nanoparticles commonly added into food. The 8th International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies was held at Suntec Convention Center, Singapore on 28 June-3rd July 2015.
